We’re excited to share that the Center for Synthetic Biology (CSB) at Northwestern University has been awarded $20 million through the NSF Programmable Cloud Laboratories (PCL) Test Bed program. This national initiative aims to advance AI-enabled, automated research infrastructure and accelerate scientific discovery across disciplines.

CSB’s PCL node will establish the AI-Driven Rapid Experimental Automation Machine (DREAM) Cloud Lab for Protein Engineering within CSB’s SynBio Foundry. By integrating artificial intelligence with automated experimentation, DREAM will provide researchers across the United States with an accessible, reliable, and cost-effective platform for engineering custom proteins for a wide range of scientific and industrial applications.
