Niall Mangan Helps Teach Crop Plants How to Concentrate CO2

Algae multiply fast because they can concentrate carbon from the air to fuel their growth. Research from a collaboration including CSB member Niall Mangan and Princeton professors Martin Jonikas and Ned Wingreen and their teams, used computer modeling to map how algae’s carbon-concentrating mechanism could be added to everyday food crops, boosting growth and combatting future food insecurity.
